Harry Potter Crafts - Golden Snitch

Harry Potter Crafts - Golden Snitch
Golden Snitch
“...it was tiny, about the size of a large walnut. It was bright gold and had little fluttering silver wings.”

There are three methods for creating a golden snitch.

You will need:
-1½ inch Styrofoam ball
-Gold paint
-Paint Brush
-Silver pipe cleaner

Paint the Styrofoam ball gold and allow to dry. I recommend two coats.

Cut the silver pipe cleaner so that it is four to five inches long. Push the pipe cleaner through the Styrofoam ball until the pipe cleaner is through the ball with equally extending out both sides.

You will need:
-Either a 2 inch or 3 inch Styrofoam ball
-Gold paint
-Paint brush
-2-3 inch long silver wings
or if you can’t find any silver wings:
-2-3 inch long white angel wings
-Glue
-Silver glitter

Paint the Styrofoam ball gold and allow to dry. I recommend two coats.

I had a hard time finding silver wings. I originally thought I could use silver feathers and make the wings. After hitting up five different stores and finding that none carried silver feathers that I needed. I decided to try a new tactic. In the doll making area of most craft store you will find white angel wings. The wings I bought are three inches long and bent as if for flight. To make them silver I brushed glue over the wings and rolled the wing in silver glitter.

The wings I used had a thin metal rod that came to a point I inserted into the Styrofoam ball. If you use a different pair of silver wings that do not have this you can use a hot glue gun to attach the wings.

Golden Snitch magnet

4+
You will need:
-Yellow tinsel pom pom
-Silver pipe cleaner
-Small magnet
-Glue or glue gun

This is a very simple snitch that you can make and have on your fridge.

Cut the silver pipe cleaner so that it is 3 inches long. Center it on one side of the pop pom and glue. Take your magnet and place over the pipe cleaner so that it is centered on the pom pom and add a little bit more glue. Allow to dry. *Note* I found I had to use more glue then I thought I would need to hold the magnet.
